SYDNEY CROSBY'S LOTTERY BALLS

Hard to believe the national media outlets haven't reflected upon the Sydney Crosby Lottery as they dissect every angle of the Oilers-Mighty Ducks series.

GM Brian Burke and Anaheim pick Bobby Ryan
I'm just here as the messenger, reminding all that the Ducks new G.M. Brian Burke was standing next to a representative of the Penguins (Pens President Ken Sawyer...where was Mario or now former G.M. Craig Patrick?) a little over a year ago as the ball dropped in Pittsburgh's favor, (It was actually an envelope as I recall) thus giving the Pens the first pick which they used to select Sydney Crosby.

Just as an aside, Crosby was just named the most outstanding forward at the World Championships.

Back on point, what if that lottery had gone the other way?

What if the Next One was drafted by Anaheim.

Would Burke have lured Scott Neidermayer? Probably.

Would he have brought back Teemu Selanne? Maybe not. (His signing was as much P.R. as pro scouting)

Would the Ducks have made it to the Conference Final living with Crosby's growing pains?

With him, would they be down 2-0 or would they be up 2-0?

Who knows?

But it's worth pondering over a couple of wobbly pops!
