SELLING THE STEAK NOT THE SALISBURY
When you're in the broadcast business you have favorites amongst your brethren, and then you have the Sean Salisburys of the world.
Apparently ESPN NFL analyst, and large-headed blow-hard, Sean Salisbury is leaving the net after 12 years.
Salisbury said in a statement: "I have created a brand and it's time to expand into other opportunities in TV, radio, Internet, publishing, movies and public speaking, among others"
What a steaming pile of self-indulged, egomaniacal dung.
Created a brand?!
You are best known as the guy who distastefully bullies pencil neck football geek John Clayton in staged "debates" on various football-centric topics. (If you squint you can almost see him administering a wedgey and stuffing him in a locker at recess) And you reportedly dabbled in cell phone camera anatomy imaging which got you a reprimand, and brief suspension from the network.
Salisbury indicated that he felt "unappreciated and underpaid' and he knew that by asking for a seven-figure contract, the result would be a 'mutual parting.' (Yes, he said seven figures)
Unappreciated?! He peaked as a college QB, had cups of coffee as an NFL backup, and won a Grey Cup with Winnipeg in the CFL yet he expounds as if his last name was Aikman - and The World Wide Leader in Sports gave him a plum platform for over a decade. ESPN made him.(Whatever he is)
"Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the opportunity ESPN gave me" Salisbury said," but they had capped my ceiling. (Can a ceiling really be capped? Or is that a redundancy?) There was only so far I could go there."
Salisbury said that he already has received offers, including one from FSN (Stars Insider?), and added that another possibility was a "non-sports role with CBS" (Oh, he's taking over for Letterman.)
All the best to ya pally.
Looking forward to the branding.
