THE LAW OF EVENTUALITY

Here's an obscure but timeless "Law" that you Stars fans need to know during these trying times.

You know how you get that feeling of, "How long can this last?" or "The other team is due" or "The good times can't keep rolling like this" when confronted with a sequence of superiority. That feeling of dread. That knowing that the "darkness" music is being cued. That's just the Law of Eventuality at work.

So consider this; during the current five game losing streak the Stars have faced multiple teams against whom they owned lengthy winning streaks.

Prior to hosting the Canucks they had beaten them seven consecutive times on home ice in the regular season. Result...4-3 loss

Then they hosted the Ducks who they had dropped six consecutive times on home ice. Result...2-1 loss

That one was followed by a seven game winning streak at American Airlines Center against the Kings. Final score was Kings4-Stars 2 after a late game cratering by the home-side.

Which brings us to the most recent "uh oh" streak.

They swaggered into the Shark Tank (with as much swagger as one can muster during a 1-7 slide) riding a six game winning streak in San Jose. That run was snapped when a series of vacuous overtime penalties led to the Sharks 3-2 OT victory.

One footnote - Apparently this hard and true "law of eventuality" doesn't apply in Detroit where Turco and company blew a 3-1 lead to extend their follies at the Joe.

Oh well, someday -- it's the law.
