CHEATIN' AND HURTIN'

I wish I had that perfect country (or western) song to lay down as a music bed for this one. Some twang-thing involving some young lovely who’s had some hard-livin’, seen-some-stuff writer pen the lyrics for her would be perfect, cause right now baseball is full of cheaters –and hockey is just plain hurtin’.

It isn’t just the Stars either.

Yes they are further hobbled by the loss of Brad Richards (broken wrist). He joins Morrow and Zubov as highly compensated spectator/cheerleaders - but they have company around the NHL.

Check out the IR All-Star team you could forge from this collection of infirmed talent:

Team Player Injury Length
Anaheim Beauchemin knee season
Boston Sturm knee season
Buffalo Vanek jaw 4 weeks
Chicago Sharp knee 4 weeks
Colorado Sakic back 3 months
  Stastny arm 2 months
Columbus Brassard shoulder season
  Leclaire ankle indef.
  Modin knee indef.
Detroit Stuart ribs 3 weeks
  Holmstrom hernia 5 weeks
Edmonton Visnovsky shoulder season
Minnesota Gaborik hip season
Montreal Tanguay shoulder season
  Lang achilles season
New Jersey Brodeur arm 3 months
NY Islanders DiPietro knee season
  Weight knee season
Philadelphia Briere groin season
Pittsburgh Boucher foot season
San Jose Roenick shoulder 2 months
St. Louis E. Johnson knee season
  Kariya hip season
  Brewer back season
Tampa Bay Smith post-concussion ?
  Kolzig arm season
Toronto Kaberle arm 4 weeks
Washington Clark wrist season

And just think - that isn’t all of the wounded around the 30 team circuit.

A check of TSN’s list of “injuries” featured 110 players. A hundred and ten!!!

Mark my words Razorites, the teams that don’t make the playoffs will be the ones humming these hurtin’ tunes; Willie’s “Whiskey River”, “Walkin the Floor Over You” by Ernest Tubb, “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” from Freddy Fender, Leann Rimes “Blue”, “I’m Tryin” by Trace Adkins, Toby Keith’s “Get Drunk and Be Somebody”, “Hurt” and “I Still Miss Someone” by Johnny Cash, and of course John Conlee’s “Rose Colored Glasses” .
