TWICE ON THE PIPE (IF THE ANSWER IS NO)

Fact: Sound travels 15 times faster through steel than through the air.

This truism was on display at AAC last night as the Stars went all Tony Orlando and hit the pipe repeatedly in their attempt to score more than one goal in the game.

When did they say those new, egg-shaped goal frames are being introduced?

The recent scoring famine has me reminded of that quote from Dave Tippett back in October when Turco and the cheesecloth strength defense were surrendering goals at an alarming rate. During the New York trip and following that 5-0 shellacking in New Jersey he frustratingly said, “If you give up 5 goals on 20 shots you’re not going to win. You could be the 80s Oilers and you’re still not going to win.” Well the shoe is on the other foot now. If they need 40 shots to score a goal, and a goal is all they score, they aren’t going to win that way either.
