ODed on OT

I’m announcing myself “analytically bankrupt” following yet another dumbfounding trip to overtime for our beloved Stars, and the all too familiar now - accompanying loss.

That makes it 15 overtimes in the first 34 games with no end to the extra sessions in sight.

Ralph and I should consider our own little revolt considering all the unpaid overtime we’ve been forced into. Nike doesn’t grind those Taiwanese kids this hard.

The DStars record reads like a middle school locker combination, 14-9-11, and their record in games decided by one goal defies logic, 6-2-11.

I can’t explain this phenomenon - it is what it is.

Even though there are no “ties” in the NHL any more (Let's not kid ourselves, once they get to the Shootout it’s a tie.) I thought I’d pass along the NHL record for ties in a season. It’s owned by the 69-70 Philadelphia Flyers who “kissed their sister” 24 times over the 76 game schedule.

FYI, there was no overtime what so ever back in 1969 so if we were to compare apples to apples and said any trip to overtime in 2009 is equal to a tie in 69’ then the Stars are on pace to smash the Flyers mark. If they kept up the pace they’d finish with 36 overtime appearances or “ties” by the end of the 82 game campaign.

Wow. Pucker up sissy! That’s a lot of action with no result.
