SUNDAY QUICKIES FROM A SATURDAY NIGHT DANDY
The band that played (twice) are obviously major Stars fans and terrific musicians, but they also proved that metal needs to be presented at a much higher decibel than was displayed - to completely capture the spirit of it. Deadbolt, or Linchpin, or whatever their name was were at about a 5. I think 11-14 on a scale of 1-10 would have had the desired effect.
Is there currently a rule that Brad Richards and Jamie Benn can't play on the same line?
If the Flyers are the best the East has to offer what does that say about the Stars, and the West in general?
How frickin good was Robidas?
Is it just me or do Jeff Woywitka and Blake Shelton look like brothers?
How do 4 officials miss a high stick that produces a 3rd orifice on Steve Ott?
At what time did lace-bite set in, and when did the feet go totally numb, for Krys Barch who had one shift?
Lehtonen's record vs the Flyers is now 0-10-2. I'm starting to spot a trend developing.
Is the Stars PP on hiatus or has it completely lost it's ability to put the puck in the net?
The Stars fell to 3-5 in Shootouts on home ice. That's 5 points left on the table. Woopsy. And this one looked from distance like bad reconnaissance coupled with failed hunching. Not one guy tried to go upstairs on chronic over-croucher, Sergei Bobrovsky while Brandon Segal, fresh off two months in the minors, went ahead of captain Brenden Morrow and blood-and-guts winger, Steve Ott ?!
Shots were 30-30 at the end of overtime. They were 34-34 at conclusion of the Flames game that started this 7 game home stand. Both ended up Shootout losses. So beware of that crap in the future.
Anyone who says you can't completely replicate playoff intensity in a regular season game can now shut their pie-hole. THAT was full-throttle baby!
