THE MODERN "SISTER KISSER"

How closely matched was last night's Stars-Flames game?

According to Elias (The Stat Lords, not the Devil's leading scorer): It took a shootout to decide a winner in Dallas on Wednesday, with the Flames prevailing over the Stars after the teams played to a 3-3 stalemate in which each side had 34 shots on goal. This was only the fourth game of the current NHL season in which each team scored the same number of goals and recorded identical shots on goal totals. The other such games (with the shootout winner listed first) were the Kings and Oilers on December 23, the Blackhawks and Senators on January 7, and the Flames and Maple Leafs on January 15.

There are no longer ties in the NHL, but last night was one.
