LOUI IS LADY-WORTHY, INDEED!
Oh the Ying and the Yang of an NHL team.
A club that employs noted on-ice delinquent, and league penalty title pursuer, Steve "The Pepper Pot" Ott, also has a player nominated for the most gentlemanly player award for the second year in a row.
Last season Brad Richards finished as runner-up to Martin St. Louis in Lady Byng voting. This year it's Loui Eriksson who is up for the memorial trophy.
Eriksson along with St. Louis and Nik Lidstrom are the three nominees.
Loui finished the campaign with only 8 penalty minutes in 79 games played and is genuinely one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. (Just FYI, Otter compiled 183 minutes in penalties. Naughty boy.)
If you want to handicap his chances, no Dallas Star or Minnesota North Star has ever captured this trophy for "sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high level of play". Neither has Lidstrom. So...I'm saying he has a chance - and man would he be worthy.
