HAPPY SAD DAY

Happy...for my friends Mark Recchi and Cam Neely of those S. Cup Champion Bruins

Sad...for the legions of Canuck fans in the province of British Columbia who had their hearts broken...again

Happy...for hockey. That was one intoxicating Final, and playoff.

Sad...that a band of drunken delinquents didn't get diverted at the womb and thus were available to torch downtown Vancouver last night.

Happy...for Zdeno Chara, who made the 35 pound Stanley Cup look like a mini-replica as he took it from Bettman and hoisted it to a height surpassing Hatcher's jubilation back in 99'

Sad...that it was the same Bruins team that derailed the Stars season that ultimately took home the big jug.

Happy...that hockey can boast championships in Original 6 U.S. cities in back to back years. Has to be good for the game here in the States.

Sad...that the Canucks couldn't ice there complete team in the Final. Tough to beat a championship caliber club without your second line, two of your defensemen, and with a Sybilistic performance from your Vezina-finalist goaltender.

Happy...that NBC got a compelling Final to start a new 10 year marriage with the sport.

Sad...that competitive, enthralling professional ice-hockey is over for another year.
