THE WORLD WIDE LEADER OF MEMORABLE STARS SPOTS

A great addition to ESPN’s coverage of the NHL back when they were the home for hockey in the U.S. was the treasure trove of commercials and promos that their creative departments pumped out.

The spots were smart, funny and always well done. Case in point, what ESPN produced in a Stanley Cup Playoff campaign in the aftermath of the Stars win in 1999.

What? You don’t remember them? Seriously?!

Well thanks to my friend, thundering Sportscenter anchor Steve Levy, and the kind people at ESPN, they live again! Five spots total.

And what I’ll do is post a different one here each day this week as a lead up to the Alumni Weekend.

To get started, here’s recently retired Mike Modano’s cameo in Brett Hull’s “Day with the Cup” (Razor Tip: watch Mo’s eyes)

Enjoy the trips down memory lane this week.

Da-Da---Da…Da-Da---Da!
