OBSERVATIONS FROM OPENING WEEKEND

American Airlines Center is best when fans from both teams populate it - like a college football game

Kari Lehtonen should be on THN list of 10 best goalies

Organ music and hockey games go together like Muzak and elevators

Sheldon Souray possesses a lot of testosterone.

The Hawks have the league's best press box food spread

I think I'd take Toews over Crosby

The Ice Girls get their own dance platform, when do I get mine?

Linesmen were too involved, should be heard not seen.

Stars and Blackhawks should be in same division.

The star that the Stars come onto the ice through needs to be bigger...especially when Oleksiak gets here.

If the Stars score an ugly goal a game they'll average 3. If they don't they'll average 2 and that won't be enough.

Early season most improved goes to...American Airlines Center in-arena show. But it's got a ways to go to be what Chicago puts forth.

I like Otter with a visor.

Someone said the goal song changed. I wasn't consulted. Is it something from Loggins and Messina now?

Stars will beat teams because they: work hard, work smart, get great goaltending, and play with discipline. Game 1 - check. Game 2 - not really.

The NHL Network and U-Verse really sabotaged my weekend with their petty rate squabble. I presently hate you both, a lot...but U-Verse more.

Fans were funny, asked some good questions and were generally very complimentary on Twitter, and so was I.

I didn't swear on the air and held my urine well, so all in all I dubbed the opening weekend 'Great Success.'
